Thank you for visiting our website. We are an OFSTED pre-school and follow the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage Principles’ and can provide free places for 3 and 4 year old children the term after their birthday. Two year funding is available under certain circumstances. we have Recently been rated as ‘good’ by OFSTED inspectors, the nursery is more than just a safe place for busy parents to leave their children.

Our nursery has its own separate indoor and outdoor playing space at the Demesne Community Centre as well as a special canopy allowing children to be outside whatever the weather.

Children can also make use of all the facilities at the centre, including a large secure outdoor space, the centre’s herb garden, cycle track and kick-pitch as well as the green flag awarded Truffet Park which is only 5 minutes walking distance away.

Children at our pre-school are encouraged to be independent, select the resources they require, make decisions, errors and choices by initiating their own play. We promote kinaeslectic learning through discovery and experience using a planned balance of adult directed, freely chosen or child-initiated ctivities.

We focus on developing children’s existing skills by building their knowledge and using interest giving them opportunities to engage in playing, sharing, learning and working together.

A designated adult will be your child’s key worker who will bond, relate and form an attachment with your child, helping develop and boost their self-esteem, self confidence and independence by having someone they can depend upon and feel secure with.

Our staffs are qualified, experienced role models and provide positive interaction and engagement with children, they have excellent observation supervision and listening skills, we actively promote and implement anti-discriminatory procedures.

We respect individuals parenting styles and respect the parent as the primary educator. We are very proud of our strong relationships with parents.

Before a child starts to attend our pre-school, we provide the child’s parent/carer with information. This includes an invitation to visit the pre-school for a tour of the premises. This gives the parent/carer a chance to chat and ask questions about the setting, arrangements and implemented policies.

On the child’s first day the parent/carer can accompany their child into the setting and stay for the whole session if they prefer. At least half an hour is required on the first day to fill in the registration forms and other relevant forms. We do ask parents/carers to call after the first hour on the first day to see how their child is settling in. Some children will only stay for an hour on their first day. The settling in process is tailored to each child and family. The settling in process will depend on the child and some settle very quickly while others take a little longer. We fully appreciate that parents and carers may feel a little upset at leaving their child for the first time and we welcome calls from concerned parents and carers to give them peace
of mind. If a child is very upset , it is our policy to inform parents and carers to give them the option of calling back to check again later or picking them up if the child is not settling.
